Working with Trauma an Introduction

This one day training delivered by Imaan Therapy, is suitable for anyone (regardless of job title) whose work includes therapeutic contact with vulnerable individuals. Notably, colleagues from the mental health profession may be particularly interested to attend. Vulnerable individuals; children, adolescents and adults, commonly have experienced a history of trauma. This may be one single traumatic event, or repeated events of trauma.

Many people with traumatic symptoms may not recognise their thoughts, feelings, or behaviours as symptom(s) resulting from trauma, and many more individuals, may not know what constitutes as trauma.Trauma can impact a person, their families, and those supporting the person who has experienced trauma. Thus, an introductory level of understanding will be beneficial to anyone working in schools, education establishments, criminal justice services, supported living, primary mental health care, domestic abuse services aswell as drug and alcohol services. It may also be beneficial to individuals in the statutory, voluntary or private sector.

Trainee psychologists, psychotherapists, counsellors, nurses and social workers, may also find this training day a useful addition to their learning.

Survivors of trauma, their family and friends might also find this course useful as a psycho-educational resource.
