Speaker

We have especially invited our respected guest speaker Dr Abdullah Rahim, from Glasgow, to run this entire session. Dr Rahim has been studying Islam for the last 30 years in four different but complementary ways. Formally, he has a PhD in Management Sciences followed by a second doctorate from University of Edinburgh, in the subject of Interpretation of the Qur'an, which alog with spiritual purification are his main areas of expertise.

Q&A

Dr Rahim has also agreed to offer a general Q&A session at the end of his lecture, which means audience can ask questions on pretty much any topic of Islam. This is also why we are leaving a generous time slot at the end for questions/answers; so from jihad and caliphate to the purpose of human creation and relations with non-Muslims, please let your imagination flow!

Session topic

Akhlaq (morals) and Islam, where is the relevance?

Session blurb

In the first session, we will look at the akhlaq of the Prophet (pbuh) through his seerah and will try to explore his role model character. This will prepare us to have an in-depth study of the Qur'an in the second session to understand where Akhlaq is positioned in Islam.
  • Is akhlaq coming from Islam or does Islam come from akhlaq?
  • Is akhlaq one of the components of Islam beside shari'ah and faith or is Islam all about akhlaq?
  • What is the actual meaning of Akhlaq and how does it relate to taziyah (spiritual purification)?
  • Does God have akhlaq? How the answer to this question can determine our akhlaq?
