Trials and Tribulations

There are many taboo subjects in the Muslim society and depression is one of them. As Muslims we encourage each other to think often of death and the after life  but we do not talk about how we can support someone who has just lost a parent or loved one. We encourage compassion yet lack empathy for those with mental health struggles.
And with patience we have misunderstood it to mean becoming a victim to our situation.
Yet to be patient is not to remain in a toxic relationship or refuse to feel sadness after a loss.
Islam teaches us to be heroes of our stories.
To understand why it is important to allow ourselves to feel our emotions in order to heal attend our annual event, Trials and Tribulations.

We will cover the tafseer of selected verses from Surah Yusuf. How did Prophet Yaqub (a.s)  deal with the separation from his son Yusuf (a.s). And how did Yusuf deal with his hardships through his own personal journey to becoming a king.

A story of betrayal, separation, accusation, imprisonment and finally freedom and love.

Happily ever afters do exist but so do hardships.

Other highlights include dealing with  depression and bereavement.
