. Hina Javaid Shahid, Chair of the Muslim Doctor's Association, speaks about Muslim Mental Health, and the challenges that we face within our community on Friday 10th March at Dar's Grill in Willsden.
Come for an evening to discuss this pressing issue within our community. Research suggests that 1 in 4 people will be touched by mental health issues at some stage or another, however we find it very difficult to talk about this often taboo topic. Dr Shahid will present an overview of the state of Muslim Mental health within the UK followed by a 2 course dinner, with an opportunity to network afterwards.
Dr Shahid's biography:
Dr Hina J Shahid is a GP working in London with an interest in public health, humanitarian medicine and medical education. She is the current Chair of the Muslim Doctors Association, a grass roots organisation working on projects to improve the health and well-being of ethnic minorities in the UK. She is active in international work and is an honorary faculty member of the Department of Family and Community Medicine at An-Najah National University, Palestine. She has also worked in Lebanon, Greece and Calais. She is the winner of the Dr Abbas Khan Services to Medicine Award at the British Muslim Awards 2017
