International Women's Day 2016 - Exclusive Event celebrating successful Muslim Women in Media & Politics.
Tired of the way in which Muslim women are portrayed as either ‘traditionally submissive’ or isolated from mainstream culture and society, this year International Women’s Day is a poignant marker of the struggles and many achievements of British Muslim women. Join us as we celebrate the careers of a few of the UK’s most illustrious Muslim politicians and journalists.
Baroness Sayeeda Warsi, MP Naz Shah and renowned journalist Lauren Booth will be joining MEND's Manchester team to talk about their careers in media and politics; their ambitions, achievements and their hopes for a younger generation of British Muslim women.
Audience members will have the opportunity to participate in a lively and enlightening Q&A session during the evening.
The event is open to all in our community (men and women) who support the advancement of Muslim women and who understand the importance of supporting women in leadership roles. The event is one of many taking place in the diverse and multicultural City of Manchester in support of International Women's Day 2016 which will be celebrated worldwide.
Tickets for this groundbreaking event are not to be missed and are priced at £20 per person and include a 3 course meal at one of the city’s most popular venues, the Sheridan Suite. An exceptional menu catered by specialists chefs and a first class service awaits you.
We look forward to seeing you there!
