Exploring the Sources

Do you have a general awareness of the Islamic Sciences and crave a deeper understanding of the Shariah and its sources? Are you interested in how scholars derived meanings from Quranic verses and classified and collated Hadiths? Exploring the Sources is a new weekly class, held in Birmingham, studying the Quran and Hadith in a structured classroom setting, and introducing the fields of Quranic tafsir and Hadith study and verification. After one year, the class could then develop into a more long-term study of texts and subjects of interest to the group. A basic understanding of Arabic is recommended for the class.

The class will be taught by Tariq Pandor, instructor at the Al-Salam Institute where he also graduated with an alimiyyah certificate under the supervision of Shaykh Akram Nadwi, and will be held every Thursday from 7.00pm to 8.30pm at the Muslim Students House (the Dar).

Term 1: 7th Sep 2017 to 7th Dec 2017 - Tafsir of Surat Maryam along with an introduction to Ulum al Quran. 
Term 2: Jan to Apr 2018 - Study of selected chapters from Sahih al Bukhari along with an introduction to Usul al Hadith. Cost: £45 per term
