Ethics of Disagreement - Shaykh Abu Aaliyah

Course Overview 

This course is designed to give students a practical approach regarding the essential conduct to uphold when dealing with issues of disagreement (adab al-ikhtilaf). This course will consider the reasons for and effects of differences of opinion, as well as the correct mindset required when dealing with valid differences of opinion.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this module, students should be able to:

• Explore the Golden Rule in areas of legitimate differing and build a sound understanding of the rule.
• Understand the danger of turning an Islamic opinion into the Islamic opinion.
• Appreciate the differing juristic approaches and conclusions.
• Demonstrate a sound understanding of the fundamental reasons for valid differences of opinion.
