British Islam Conference
A weekend promoting collaboration and thinking around the idea of a British Islam and encouraging the development of British Muslim thought, identity and culture; as well as creating a space for the development of networks and partnerships.

It does this by promoting an open, inclusive and forward-looking arena for debate, discussion and sharing of ideas that are rooted in the British context. But this is not an academic event; it is about using all avenues possible, including art and culture, to enhance Muslim voices.

The conference will allow for a number of parallel sessions where people (of any faith or no faith) can showcase their ideas and thoughts, relevant to the theme – however controversial or safe.

A FESTIVAL OF IDEAS:
- Presentations and workshops by activists, organisers, thinkers and scholars (see below)
- Poetry and musical performances in the evening
- Places are running out - book now, don't wait to pay at the door (where prices go up!)

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS:
- Amina Wadud, Professor Emerita in Islamic Studies
- Halima Krausen, Lecturer in Islamic Studies, University of Hamburg
- Mike Hardy, Professor and Executive Director, Centre for Trust, Peace & Social Relations

The conference will also see the launch of the ‘New Horizons Prize for Innovation’. This will be an annual prize of £5,000 to champion and promote a creative idea or project.

See Eventbrite for the full list of themes and speakers.
